Public Health Heroes

The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) represents public health agencies in the U.S., U.S. territories and Freely Associated States, and the District of Columbia, in addition to over 100,000 public health professionals. Their mission is to support, equip, and advocate for state and territorial health officials in their work of advancing the public’s health and well-being.

Core services:

To achieve this, it is imperative that critical, health-related information be conveyed in an effective and engaging manner. Since 2020, FOVNDRY has supported ASTHO in this effort, while also raising awareness about public health issues.

Educating The Pros

FOVNDRY collaborates with ASTHO to create accessible educational materials for multidisciplinary stakeholders—from state health departments and public health officials, to physicians and other health providers—all in support of ASTHO’s public health mission. Topics address key research on state and regional differences, screening and treatment barriers, as well as stigma and health disparities. Each project encourages the audience’s understanding and action on critical issues affecting the population.

Additionally, FOVNDRY works with ASTHO to showcase evidence-based research, issue briefs, and develop case studies. FOVNDRY’s role is crucial in translating scientific data to develop content, including a call-to-action for materials. This collaborative process guides the creative direction of final assets which have included infographic series, strategic guides, self-assessment tools, video, social content, and graphics.

For The Greater Good

To help with the development of a series on Increasing Access to Contraception (IAC) Learning Community, FOVNDRY collaborated with ASTHO to share IAC efforts and recommendations for broad dissemination. From start to finish, FOVNDRY managed the development of these deliverables—covering everything from reviewing, synthesizing, and identifying content for four guide assets that spanned the following topics:

  • Immediate Postpartum Long-Acting Reversible Contraception
  • Rural Health
  • Stakeholder Partnerships and Coalition Building
  • Integrate Care Within Correctional Facilities and Substance Use Disorder Treatment Services

All in all, in the development of this and other public health information series, FOVNDRY was able to aid ASTHO in its work in positively impacting societal health, by getting crucial information to the professionals and people who need it most.
